Description: The vertical channels on each end are an extremely rare feature. Add to this its small size, great color contrast between lid and case (authentic), and near original condition, and you have something for a serious collector's home. The front and ends with wide channel-moldings. Single board lid with triple-scratch molding all around and retaining the prongs of its original snipe hinges. Made of heavy, riven oak. Later strap hinges but most of original snipes still present. Old damp damage at one end. Supports underneath restored. Hasp lost. English, 1560-1600
