Description: c. 1810. This bureau is beautifully crafted with a rarely seen upper compartment that is absolutely original to the piece, which is in a fine state of preservation including its original brasses. Backboards of the upper and lower cases match exactly, etc. Note the wonderful broken columns inlaid between the bird's eye maple ovals. Certainly, this is a more provincial look at the work being done in Boston by the Seymours.
